On October 18th, we're sending a plane full of World War II veterans from Willard Airport on one final mission: to see their recently built memorial. It's out opportunity to give these 80 and 90-year-olds the thank-you they deserve.


Join us October 18th at Flightstar (at Willard Airport) for a Welcome Home celebration as the veterans return to Champaign. Be there as the heroes step off the plane from their emotional journey. The Marching Illini will perform patriotic music, World War II-era planes will be on display, several area honor guards will be present, we'll have a mayoral proclaimation, and a speaker or two. Gates open at 7; the plane is expected to land at 9pm.

It's going to cost $55,000 to send 75 WWII vets to see their memorial.
